HOW TO INSTRUCT A REP
Instructing a police station rep is quick and easy

BY POLICE STATION NAME: The simplest way to use textBomb is to enter the word REP followed by the name of the police station. There is no need to enter the full name of the police station, just enough for textBomb to work out which station you mean.

If we do not know which police station you mean textBomb will send you a text message asking you for clarification (see below).

Some police station names are so similar textBomb will not be able to distinguish between them. For example Euston could be Euston Street Police Station in Leicester or British Transport Police at Euston Station in London. To avoid confusion you can be more specific (eg REP BTP Euston or REP Euston St) or use one of the methods described below.

OTHER WAYS TO INSTRUCT A REP:
There are numerous ways of using textBomb.

POSTCODES : You can ask textBomb to contact reps by the postcode of the police station too. The example on the left shows you how to do this. All you have to do is send a text with the word REP followed by the first part of the postcode.

textBomb will then send texts to all the reps in order of their distance from that postcode. You can find the postcode of every police station in the UK on www.PoliceStationReps.com

So long as you send the word REP with the first half of a valid UK postcode textBomb can get to work. You do not have to send the police station's actual postcode just any postcode that is close by. In the example SW8 and SW7 would work. But it has to be a valid UK postcode to work.

BY UNIQUE POLICE STATION CODES: All of the police stations in the UK have been allocated a unique code. You can find that code on www.PoliceStationReps.com where it is prominently displayed. Clearly this is the least confusing method for our computers but perhaps the most difficult for you the user.

Just text the word REP to textBomb followed by the unique police station code. This is NOT the code allocated to police stations by the LSC or any other organisation.

BY TOWN OR AREA: You can also use the area, city or town for a police station. Just text the word REPAREA followed by the city, town or county.

This is not our recommended method as it clearly has limitations. In bigger cities like London there can be large distances between police stations. Ealing and Lewisham are less than 20 miles apart but with London traffic they may as well be on different continents!

However, somewhere reasonably small like Leicester it can work pretty well. Loughborough and Euston Street are also less than 20 miles apart but it only takes about 30 minutes to get from one to the other.

You should avoid using small towns though as textBomb might not know where you mean.

PREFERENCES: In the preferences section of this web site you can alter the way textBomb behaves. It can be configured to work the way you want it to.
  1. First textBomb texts your inhouse staff.
  2. Then your favourite reps
  3. Finally, reps listed on policestationreps.com

You don't have to add inhouse staff or favourite reps. You can let textBomb call the reps listed on www.PoliceStationReps.

Equally, textBomb does not have to call the reps listed on www.PoliceStationReps.com. You can, if you want, set up textBomb so that it only calls the people you want it to call.

1. textBomb will send texts to your inhouse staff first. Anyone listed as inhouse staff will be sent a text asking them to attend a police station regardless of their actual location in the UK. You can switch availability on and off so that you can create rotas. You can also alter the order in which inhouse staff are called. You can add as many people as you want.

2. Next textBomb will send texts to your favourite reps. Anyone listed as a favourite will be sent a text asking them to attend a police station regardless of their actual location in the UK. You can switch availability on and off so that you can create rotas. You can also alter the order in which your favourite reps are called. You can add as many people as you want.

3. You can ask textBomb to not use any of the reps on www.PoliceStationReps.com by ensuring the there is no tick in that option. The reps listed on www.PoliceStationReps.com are called only once all your inhouse staff and favourite reps have been called.

If your own staff cannot attend a police station then it is highly likely that one of the hundreds of reps on www.PoliceStationReps.com will be able to. You pay the rep not us. We do not take a cut, we only charge you for the service we provide.

4. Finally, in the preferences section you can Blacklist anyone you do not want textBomb to contact. Lets face it there are reps out there that we simply do not want to use.

Only you can access your textBomb preferences so the rep concerned will not be aware of your preferences.

TEXTBOMB MESSAGES: Some messages you may get from textBomb

This is what the rep gets in his inbox.

On the left you can see a typical message that the reps receive. Clearly they are not aware of which firm is offering the work.

To accept a job the rep only needs to reply with the word YES and the job number. The whole process should only take seconds.

ACCEPTING A JOB: Accepting a job could not be easier!

To accept a job offer from textBomb you only need to send the word YES along with the unique job number.

The first rep to reply gets the job.

To keep costs down it is not possible to send a text to everyone who replied but did not get the job. If you have not had a call from the instructing solicitor within a few minutes then you have not been lucky on this occasion.

CLARIFICATIONS: Sometimes the solicitor will be asked to clarify their instructions.

If we do not know which police station you mean textBomb will send you a text message asking you for clarification (see the image on the left).

Some police station names are so similar textBomb will not be able to distinguish between them. For example Euston could be Euston Street Police Station in Leicester or British Transport Police at Euston Railway Station in London. To avoid confusion you can be more specific (eg REP BTP Euston or REP Euston St) or use one of the methods described above.

www.PoliceStationReps.com is a web site where police station reps advertise themselves to the legal community. The reps can use the site free of charge and there is no charge for solicitors looking for reps either.

The site lets you find a police station representative anywhere in the country quickly and easily. textBomb automates the use of the lists of police stations and the list of reps compiled by the site.

All the reps on www.PoliceStationReps.com are accredited so you be sure that the agent sent to cover your police station attendance will be professional and qualified.
